I love painting pictures
of things that are realistic but at the same
time I like to take these realistic images and
their forms, shapes, lines and allow different
shapes, forms and lines to emerge by making them
gesture and soft around the edges and playful.
These playful emerging shapes and lines become
abstract and the realistic image returns to an
abstract form. These abstract forms I believe
are what form used to be before language took
over. For me taking a realistic form and turning
it into some form of abstraction is like
returning form back to it’s origins. I paint
with watercolors and acrylics. I use colored
pencils, India ink and graphite bars and
whatever else lends itself to letting form and
line emerge. I paint on various kinds of paper
and canvas. Real objects never becomes frozen in
time but are instead something that can be
played with something that is imagined. I call
